Here are a few ways you can continue to provide the powerful voice of CASA for children in Austin for years to come:

Putting CASA in your will

You can provide now for a future gift to CASA of Travis County by including a bequest provision in your will or trust. Your will or trust directs assets to your heirs and can direct a bequest to CASA of Travis County.

  • Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime.
  • You can change your bequest if your circumstances change.
  • You can direct your bequest to a particular purpose (be sure to check with CASA of Travis County to make sure your gift can be used as intended).
  • You can have the satisfaction of knowing your bequest will support CASA of Travis County in the way you intended when you are gone.

Use this language in your estate plan:

I hereby direct $____________ (or _____ percent of my residual estate) in cash, securities, or other property to CASA of Travis County (Fed. ID# 74-2369123).

Naming CASA as a beneficiary

You can name CASA of Travis County as beneficiary of your life insurance policy or your retirement plan and reduce your tax liability. This is as simple as calling your provider and updating or adding to your beneficiary designations.

Giving real estate

For many people, their home or other real estate is their most valuable asset. You may donate your home or other property to CASA of Travis County. Gifts of real estate may secure a charitable income tax deduction for you, based on the fair market value of the property, with no capital gains liability for the transfer. If you wish to continue to live in your residence, you may choose to irrevocably deed a residence (such as your home, cabin, or farm) to CASA of Travis County but reserve the right to use it during your lifetime. This arrangement may create an immediate income tax deduction and a federal estate tax deduction.

Reducing taxes and receiving income

You may give to CASA of Travis County, reduce your tax liability and receive an income from your assets. There are many ways to meet your financial and philanthropic goals including creating a charitable gift annuity, a charitable remainder trust or a charitable lead trust. Such financial vehicles require planning and professional counsel and can be powerful ways to put your passion for CASA of Travis County into action.

Help future CASA children through the Endowment for CASA

You can make a difference for tomorrow’s children by giving to the Endowment for CASA of Travis County. The CASA of Travis County Fund is administered and maintained by the Austin Community Foundation (ACF), a 35 year-old non-profit organization that manages more than 1,000 charitable funds for individuals, families and organizations totaling more than $120 million.

We are currently a part of an incentive program with ACF with the intent to encourage local non-profits to build their endowment. With this incentive program, ACF will add $5,000 to our endowment fund when we raise $20,000 or more for the fund within the calendar year. Your gift today will make an even larger impact on the future of children in Travis County.

For more information on giving to the endowment or creating a fund in honor or in memory of a loved one, please contact our Development Manager, Vicki Aymond, at 512.539.2679 or via email.

If you’re ready to give, you may give online or send your check (made out to Austin Community Foundation with “CASA Endowment” in the memo line) to: Austin Community Foundation, 4315 Guadalupe St, Ste 300, Austin, TX 78751.

As with any decision involving your assets, we urge you to seek the advice of your tax and legal advisors and we recommend you discuss your goals with your financial or estate planning professional.
